Conducting business or working

Non-Immigrant B

Ordinary passport holder who wishes to enter the Kingdom for conducting business or working is subjected to be granted a Non-Immigrant B Visa.
Required Document

  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Letter from a company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand or Document showing correspondence with trading partners in Thailand. (eg. Letter confirming employment details, business registration or business license of a partner company in Thailand).
  4. Letter of invitation from a trading company in Thailand.
Employment/ Working in Thailand
  1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is required for one year visa application.
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. To obtain an Employment Visa, letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour is requested. (To obtain this letter, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.   4. Employment contract indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications. (Document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company).
  5. Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour. (Only in case the applicant has previously worked in the Kingdom).
  6. Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time.
* Please note that copy of corporate documents may be requested as deemed appropriated; namely 1) list of shareholders 2) business registration and business license 3) company profile 4) details of business operation 5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions 6) map indicating the location of the company 7) Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (PorNgorDor 50 and PorNgorDor 30) of the latest year 8) Alien income tax return (PorNgorDor 91) and 9) Value-added tax registration (PorNgorDor 20).
Employment/ Working in Thailand
  1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Business registration and business license of the hiring company in Thailand.
  4. Letter confirming the internship/participation from the company.
Internship (Non-Curricular internship)
The document to be submitted for the visa application is contingent upon necessities and appropriateness of purposes stated in the application form. Copies of company documents must be signed by Board of Directors and affixed the seal of the company. In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the unavailability of such document must be provided. The applicant must sign on each page of the copy. In addition, Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai. If translated into English, it should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/ consular mission.
Validity of a Visa

Single-entry visa is valid for three months. The validity of Multiple-entry visa could be varied from three months to one year.

Period of Stay

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Extension of Stay

Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau’s regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. Applicants wishing to stay in the Kingdom longer than 90 days have to file their application at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th).

Advice

Visa applicants are suggested to submit application at least 15 working days prior to the intended travelling date to Thailand.

Non-Immigrant IB

Ordinary passport holder whose purpose of visit is to invest in a BOI-registered company or work in a BOI-registered company can apply for the Non-Immigrant type IB Visa.

Required Document

  1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Letter confirming employment details from an employer.
  4. Letter from BOI.
Validity of a Visa

The validity of a visa is three months.

Period of Stay

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Extension of Stay

Those who wish to stay longer must file an application for an extension at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, ChaengwattanaSoi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

Advice

Visa applicants are suggested to submit application at least 15 working days prior to the intended travelling date to Thailand.

Long Stay

Eligibility
Foreigner age of 50 and over *foreigner must have a permanent residence in a country in which the application is submitted.
  • Ordinary passport holder with a nationality of Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States of America, with the age of 50 years old and over
  • Spouse and child (age under 20 years old)

  • Can work as a volunteer (in accordance with the list of volunteer work as stipulated by the Department of Employment).

  • Can purchase condominium (proceed in accordance with the Condominium Act).
*For foreigner staying in Thailand with these type of visa, notification of stay every 90 days with the immigration bureau is required.

Non-Immigrant O-X (10 Years)

Required Document

  1. Passport with validity not less than 6 months.
  2. Three application forms and 3 photographs (size 4 X 6 cm. taken within the last 6 months).
  3.  One biography Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. The certificate should be valid not more than three months and should be notarized by notary organs
  4. Financial evidence 
    Ordinary passport holder who wishes to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes is subjected to be granted Transit visa.

Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 3 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand.
OR
• Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 1.8 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand and certificate of annual income with the amount of not less than 1.2 million Baht (local currency equivalent) per year. (Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year.)

5. Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. In case the applicants have permanent residence in other country, they must provide the aforementioned document from both country of nationality and country of permanent residence.
6. Medical certificate from the country where the applicants apply visa stating that applicants don’t have any prohibited diseases as follows; Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, drug addiction, third stage of Syphilis. The medical certificate must be issued no longer than 3 months prior to the date of submission.
 7. Copy of evidence stating that applicants have insurance as per stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and health insurance of Thailand which has insurance money for outpatient not less than 40,000 Baht and for inpatient not less than 400,000 Baht.

Validity of a Visa
  • Spouse (no age restriction) must show a copy of marriage certificate together with documents stated in 1-8.
  • Child age under 20 years old must show a copy of birth certificate or proof of legitimate child and also have to submit documents number 1-3, 7 and 8
Period of Stay

Travelers coming to Thailand with Non Immigrant O-X visa will be initially granted a stay permit of five years in the Kingdom according to the validity of visa. After five years they can apply for the extension of five years.

Benefits of the Non-O-X visa holders

  • Can purchase vehicle (under the provision of laws on motor vehicles).

Non-Immigrant O-A

Required Document

  1.  Passport with validity not less than 6 months.
  2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  3. Financial evidence : a guarantee letter from the bank and a copy of bank statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 THB or an income certificate with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 THB or a deposit account plus a monthly income in total not less than 80,000 THB.
  4. Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. The certificate should be valid not more than three months and should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic or consular mission.
  5.  Medical certificate from the country where the applicants apply visa stating that applicants don’t have any prohibited diseases as follows; Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, drug addiction, third stage of Syphilis. The medical certificate must be issued no longer than 3 months prior to the date of submission.

The validity of a visa is one years.

Period of Stay

Travelers coming to Thailand with Non Immigrant O-A visa will be initially granted a stay permit of one year in the Kingdom according to the validity of visa. After one year they can apply for the extension of one years.

Extension of Stay

The visa holder must file an application for an extension at the Office of Immigration Bureau in the province of residence (For those staying in Bangkok, the Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889). The extension of stay is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
